OK, just in case I get to go on the weekend laning trip in a couple of months. Can you help with my shopping list and what would be priorities. Not thinking of doing anything too hard or going in very deep water - ever

If possible could you please explain what they are and what they do as well

Vehicle is standard 1991 Defender, it already has all terrain tyres and two spare wheels. The only thing I have added is a CB radio so far.

Things I think might be useful, although they might just be bling :D

Snorkel
Tree Sliders
Lots of lights = dont know what kind or where they would go
Tow ropes and bits you fasten them to (I do know their name but I cant find it)
Better jack

Oh and what spares and tools it would be sensible to carry. I have a fan belt, power steering belt, oil, fluids, water and bulbs in it at the moment, no tools to speak of, although I do have some lying around the house.

Please dont tell me to search  that kind of expects you know what you are looking for.

that made me chuckle..

especially the bit about having all spare belts n oils but no tools..

bit like having loads of spare fuel but no motor to put it in.. :)

Well, that's the hardware taken care of but what about the cakes?

:eek::eek: I will admit that on my last trip I did expect nrgserv would have some tools and be nice enough to fit that stuff :D :D Would never go laning with someone who had less idea than me, if such an idiot exists :D :D

Sue.... a womans perspective, packet of wipes, hand sanitiser, base layer thermals, travel towel, good boots, long warm socks, not jeans..if they get wet you is fooked, i have combats, spare underwear just in case you get wet. Insulated mug for all your drinkin needs. :D

Brilliant :D:D I have a kettle that works on the cig lighter as well. Good point about the jeans, I dont think I have anything else, shopping trip in order :D Expect my horsey boots and waterproof stuff will be fine though.

pair of Jate rings and a 5mtr 2tonne strop. Not a Towing strap. for the recovery. ditch 1 spare and throw a can of tyre weld in the back instead.

something to cook on. Torch or better still Head torch.

Horsey boots and waterproofs will be great :D The other things are just to make life that little bit easier in the outback ;)

Has anyone checked if the local take away delivers to the field yet. Would be much better than dead horse burgers :D :D
