Hi to all,
I really need some advice regarding my Freelander. I was driving home on the motorway yesterday, when on of the VCU support bearings went. After a lift home from the nice recovery people I had a good look here on the forums.
The bit I really need help with is this. Until I can get a pair of replacement bearings deliverd. If I was to remove the front and rear prop shafts and VCU in one unit, would I be able to drive without having to remove the output pinion from the IRD unit? I have heard that when some people convert to two wheel drive, remove this and use a blanking plate. I want to avoid draining and refilling the IRD if at all possible, as I understand the filler and drain plugs can be a pain to remove.
Would be glad of any advice anyone could give as I'm not the most mechanically gifted person you will ever come across.
Thanks
Andrew
