Dear Landy owners....I need some advice please.
I had a look at the thread for replacing the water pump on my R plate '90 and have done a sterling job in getting to the pump, sticking a new one on complete with shiny new gasket and all was going swimmingly....until I got to put the fan belt back on where I am stumped! Do you have to have the special tool for the tensioner or is there a cheat? I have taken a break whilst contemplating the issue and thought I would enlist the knowledge of the forum.....
With thanks as always,
Paul

Hi Musicman,

What do you mean a special tool? if you need to move it out of the way to fit the belt then use a iirc 15mm socket and a longish breaker bar. Put the socket on the idler bolt head and turn the breaker bar so that the idler rotates anticlockwise around . Fit the belt , gently release the breaker bar and the spring will rotate the tensioner back clockwise against the belt.

Hope that makes sense.

Cheers

Neilly, meant to say thanks last night but got caught up with a couple of things....after a good head scratch and a cup of tea I watched the thread you posted, got a long brace and it all worked out well! Really appreciate all of the help!!
