hi guys I have a 1999 landrover discovery 2 v8 ,, the head gasket had blown so I have got the head skimmed and recut all the valves myself and got a new gasket set ,and new head bolts,, I just need advice could I put this back on myself is it a easy job. or can anyone recommend me someone in the Liverpool area who could do this for me ..also how much do you think it would cost etc ,,I stripped it myself just need it tightend up properly, as this will be the 2nd time its gone in last 5 years thanks

One thing you MUST do is fit decent composite head gaskets, and line up the head(s) using the inlet manifold and an old gasket first.
The block dowels are a very sloppy fit in the head and allow the head to be assembled on the skew, enough that the inlet manifold won't line up and will leak.
I put the heads on, assemble the inlet manifold with the old valley gasket, put a bolt in each corner then nip it up.
Tighten the heads and refit the manifold with a new valley gasket.
