Dear great people of the forum, it is my turn to ask for help.

I have joined the LR family a couple of months back when I purchased the Disco 3 for a road trip around Europe with my partner and dogs. So I am quite new to it.

Yesterday I went on a hike with my dogs in the woods and parked the car on the side of the road. Please note that I parked it on a slight hill (with the back high up) and in order to gain ground clearance I have parked in Off-Road mode.

The trek was roughly 3 - 3 1/2 hours long. got back into the car, and on my way home. 5 miles into the drive I stop at a traffic light and when it turns green I try to go, but I feel a sudden loss of power when accelerating, struggling to pick up any speed, however I moved for 20 meters when the car goes into limp mode, the engine cuts out, no steering, etc.. On the dashboard I have "System Engine Fault". I tried to restart the car but it won't have it, not then, not now (roughly 24 hours later).

I have an OBDii bluetooth tool that I plugged in, but I get not code. The electric starter motor is working. I have roughly 80 miles of gas in the tank, just in case it makes any difference.

The car is a 2005 LR Disco 3, 2.7 TDV6.

Did it sound normal while cranking over?
When was the timing belt changed? And just as importantly, was the oil pump replaced at the same time?

The engine sounds normal when cranked over. The timing belt was changed some 45K miles ago, unfortunately I was not the owner at the time and do not know if oil pump has been replaced too.

It's worth checking to see if the timing belt has gone loose. It's unfortunately quite common for the idler pulley bracket to fail and become detached from the early oil pump. If this happens, the timing goes out and the valve damage is done.

flexible induction hose issue / i had the exact same drama upon joining a motorway , accelerating hard to match traffic speed . engine system fault ,limp mode . switch off n back on and was fine , turned out left hand side charge cool top pipe had a tiny split in it , changed for upgraded silicone hose , and the issue hasnt arisen again ,
