Hi All, i need help with my running issue on my D2 , driving along the M5 cut out and would not start cranking over still no start.
Called the AA got recovered home and tried to start it again and finally it started and then cut out and would not start again, could not hear the fuel pump ?.
Made a few phone calls and bought a second hand fuel pump fitted it and replaced the fuel filter with a new one and bleed the system, and it seemed to start all OK for a few days and coming down the motorway again yesterday started to shudder and loss power. So lifted of the throttle and slowly coasted along for a bit then pressed the throttle again and run all good no problem full power.
And it has happened again to night shudder and loss of power, no warning lights on dash
Any advise or if anybody else has had the same issue.

Might have sucked up some muck in the fuel lines, have you checked any filters ?
 
Mine did a similar thing, was running fine then started running really lumpy and cut out. Managed to get it going again by running the priming cycle.
Diagnosed to be a tank full of kitchen roll which blocked everything up. Cleaned pump, tank and a new filter and it's been fine since.
 
At first while reading his issues I thought of a failing crankshaft position sensor. This is due to the engine shutting off and not restarting while driving it. Only after the engine cooled down it starts.
After reading the whole story it sounds more like a fuel problem.

Hi All,
Just wanted to give you a update on my TD5 running issue.
Right here go's :
Replaced second fuel pump in tank with brand new pump, then replaced fuel filter with new one and also cleaned fuel lines.
Replaced fuel line from the pressure regulator and also replaced fuel pressure regulator.
Carried out purge cycle 2 times( pump is running every time )Bloody thing still not starting.
Was give some advise on what else to check ,as this can cause this issue i'm having.
I was told to remove the internal fuse box and check for corrosion inside on the fuse boards and here is what i found.(See pictures) i think this could be my problem.
Replacement fuse box arriving tomorrow , will be fitting tomorrow morning and will update all hopefully may Disco will burst in life and start up?????? fingers crossed.

Hi All, another update about my TD5.
After all the work have been done the bloody thing will not start.
Replaced crank sensor checked and cleaned injector loom plug, also checked ECU plugs for oil ingress (cleaned) .
Checked all pins in plugs for corrosion (none found) and also checked knock sensor (all good)
Checked immobilizer (all good)
Carried out fuel purge cycle about 3 times.
Checked for faults in any systems with nano com, checked all setting for my disco (all good)
Tried to start , still no good turns over but no fire.
So if anybody has any ideas where to look next, thanks in advance.

:confused: what knock sensor on Td5 ???

if you have nanocom watch the live engine speed (rpm) while cranking also check the voltage on the battery while cranking cos if it drops below 10.5V it will happily spin but wont start so make sure the battery is strong enough...if it's manual try to bump start it.
 
Hi Sierrafery, Sorry my mistake not knock sensor , fuel cut off switch fitted to the bulk head.

Replaced the battery with a fully charged battery 12.76 volts and i all so connected a jumper pack just to make sure there was enough power for the fuel purge and the cranking side of things.

That's not good enough, you MUST see the voltage while cranking cos there can be an issue with the alternator which would create a high draw and that can be the root of the cut-out too.
