Hi guys,

I have the 110 booked in tmrw Am bright and early for an MOT. To be honest I am not expecting it to fly through and 1/2 expect to come away with small list of to dos. It doesn’t feel right however to take it in knowing there are obvious faults..here’s the bugger...

Lights are all working fine, indicators & hazards now fixed. The rear lights are working however when I brake the passenger side brake light doesn’t work. I have tried another bulb and still no joy. The lights them selves are only a couple of months old as I replaced them due to corroded bulbs being steadfast in the old ones

Really hope to get this one remedied in time

Put a live to the light to make sure it works.
If this works I think there is a spare cable in the loom to change it over from existing colours/cable.

plus try the earth as some are earthed through a tab in the light as well as the cable

Good luck

Have ou had the bulb out one of mine used to move a smidge if i had been off road or over a rut in a field and cause some odd faults.

test bulb by swapping sides quick and dirty first.

Some of the new replacement light units these days are of varying quality, Ive even had them wired incorrectly, Ie tail light wired using the brake wire and vice versa. Don't guess, test, as said above swap bulbs first, then check the earth but the tail light used the same one so it might not be that. then run a known live to the unit. Good luck and let us know how you get on.

Thanks Phil,

Guess what?... in True LR style the bloody thing has come on again & seems to be holding up to general bangs, thumps and knocks

I will have to investigate but with the MOT at 8am tmrw and light, heat & coffee running on empty I think I will see if the LR Gods are with me tmrw

Will report back after further investigation. Thanks for your assistance

It will be a bad earth. If your lights do weird and inexplicable things or are otherwise haunted, it is nearly always a bad earth.

Make sure you have the correct bulb in. I accidentally put wrong one in (clear indicator bulb) and had the exact same issues. Lights are on but brake light on nearside wouldn’t work.
