Hi everyone.
I have been reading quite a few threads about air suspension however I cant seem to find a solution for the fault code I have - 4130 - Rear left height sensor out of range (Short or broken wire).
The disco is also stuck in high ride mode and the left air bag is at its highest point.
I have checked all wires and fuses I can get to/see, changed the sensor and have followed advice on other threads however I still cannot resolve the issue. I am using hawkeye and cannot clear the fault. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

I've seen this kind of fault myself, it's most probably a wiring issue, you'll have to check continuity between the sensor's plug and the ECU's plug, do you have RAVE?

Hi,
You will have to excuse me, I am not sure what rave is, is it the wiring diagram? If yes I have downloaded a couple off another thread. I am an absolute amateur, how would I check the continuity?

Download this if you dont already have it: https://www.dropbox.com/s/v0zqixf32...ectrical Library (LRL0529ENG 3rd Ed).pdf?dl=0 , i'll tell you the connector's numbers and you can see them in "Connector views"
you'll need a multimeter and a piece of wire to be able to prolonge the probe

1. Disconnect battery negative lead
2. Unplug the sensor, pin disposals at C0764
3. disconnect C0377-0391, check continuity between C0764 and C0391 as follows: 5 - 9, 1 - 6, 4 - 3,
4. if you have continuity remove the glovebox to reach C0654 and check continuity to C0377 as foloows: 1 - 9, 2 - 6, 3 - 3

the gist is that the wires are the same colour from the sensor to the ECU ...if you find interruption you'll have to rewire that between the plugs . Good luck.

if it seems too complicated to you show this post to an electrician

Thanks very much! I will see what I can do.

Sierrafery. Thanks very much for the advice. After consulting a couple of auto electricians and mechanic friends I decided due to the cost involved in rewiring that I would convert to coil, for a considerable amount cheaper! Bought and fitted myself a terrafirma coil conversion kit and I couldn't be happier. However now I have a massive leak in my ACE system under the drivers seat. Dropped the whole tank of fluid in 3 miles! Not the happiest person with regards to that!

I'm not gonna tell my oppinion about those electricians:confused: .... Rewiring it would have costed the lenght of wire, the plug and around 1 hour of work,, max 20 quid... i've done it twice so i know

Well that's not good to hear! Wish I had someone like you near me. Thanks very much anyway. Next time I'll have to look a little further maybe.

I was going to ask if the OP was sure that the problem was due to a broken wire and not just an electrical fault within the ride height sensor which could show up as "Rear left height sensor out of range (Short or broken wire)".
Left to me, I would have tried replacing the sensor before reaching for a coil spring conversion kit.

I got fed up with buying airbags and height sensors only to find out the compressor needed replacing, so I converted to coils. Complete piece of mind since. Little to go wrong. I don't need to tow the caravan or horse trailer anymore and don't go off-road so didn't need any air suspension self-levelling or increased height. No noticeable difference at all in how the car drives or rides except no hissing or compressor noise.

IMO you bought the wrong vehicle from the beginning.... you should have bought a LR Series II not a Discovery Series II just to bastardize a well enhanced vehicle

Why would it have been the wrong vehicle? We bought it in 2007 and has been used as a second car and for towing a horse trailer and our twin axle caravan. We sold off the horse trailer last year and two years ago used it to tow our caravan to the South of Spain where it is now kept. It was the right vehicle and the airbags are useful for towing or for playing off road. Otherwise they do the same job as coils. The ride is just as good with coils but without unnecessary complicated system. We do intend getting rid of it for something more economical.

Taking a hammer crack a nut - you've got rid of one the best and easiest systems to sort when it goes wrong.
Mind and let your insurance company know you've modded your motor

After a series of problems finally bought a new compressor (£175.00) from Aerosus in Germany. Never had the slightest inclination to go the spring route.
