Hi any help or experience on the following coolant loss? 54 plate 1.8 freelander. Head gasket replaced 5k miles ago. Was fine until recently then started losing again. No water apparent in oil or visa versa. Drip can be see on under tray and evidence of damp/ pooling on floor under centre of engine bay. I topped up whilst stationary in the garage and without the engine running it lost approx half litre over a week. I think I can see signs of a drip on gearbox end of cylinder head near where a coolant hose exits and goes to the online thermostat. Is this elbow the thermostat housing people talk about? As clearly the housing on mine is plastic and in line. I am not currently suspecting the head gasket but any other clues would be helpful.

Expansion tank cap
Sequential HGF

All are common on petrol gaylanders
 
Thanks, will investigate further. I have heard about thermostat housings cracking. Is that an issue for K series. Also is this the 'elbow' which come out of the head and connects to hose with plastic thermostat in it?

let it idle for 30mins and see where its leaking from, some LZ member made a DIY pressure tester for the coolant system, cant find using the search
 
Could be core/frost plugs first youtube description [nomedia="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DdaZj7UDVeo"]YouTube - Core Plug replace[/nomedia] .Could be rusted on the inside get under with a torch and have a look.
 
was the correct inlet manifold gasket fitted, is coolant dripping from manifold onto plastic pipe underneath? is something coolant related loose? you can see the motor we can't.
 
Thanks guys. This is really frustrating, Have run the car today and been stationary on the motorway for ages. Got home, let it cool down and checked the level. It hasn,t really used any. And yet there was the loss of a full header tanks worth over a week stationary in the garage. I think I need to get the under tray off for a look. There was definately a drip and small pool the other day. I can't see water around the inlet manifold but I saw what I thought was a damp area at the outlet elbow from the head going to the pipe with the thermostat in it.

I will keep checking. Just wanted to know the usual suspect areas.
