Hi guys
i have a 1964 series 2a 2.25 3 bearing landy and i have just replaced my (Copper ) head gasket and I think I saw something somewhere saying that running old engines on normal unleaded petrol can cause head gaskets to fail.
Does anyone know if this is true and if so what is the best way of fixing this.
1. Use a LRP additive?
2. Mod the head/valve's?
3. Somthing else?

Regards

I would use an additive, thats what I've done with my old series engines in the past and they've been fine. Shop around though for the best value though. The one I used was either by wynns or redex and it was excellent value.

Righto, the stuff I used is made by redex and it's widely available at filling stations. It costs £4.99 a bottle and this will accomodate around 5 or 6 tanks of fuel and the redex product code is RDX18.
