Hi. Water pump on 300tdi 110 has failed. Trying to get the PAS pump pulley off to remove the useless pump, but we can't get the bolts to move, it just turns the pulley. Any magic suggestions very great fully accepted (been trying for about an hour now)

Thanks
Simon

Impact driver or a windy gun. You can also get the right-angled air ratchet, that usually works. Failing that it's just a case of trying to stop the pulley from turning by wedging it with something or put another ratchet on one of the other bolts.

Is the pump off the car? If it is, get an old belt and put it round the pulley and then pinch it up in a vice.

But get an impact gun anyway. They are worth their weight in gold! But only a Snap On one, the others are not as good...

you did leave the belt on before trying to undo it?

Put a spanner on 1 and wedge it in, use the other spanner or rachet to undo each 1, yes it will tighten one up, but once all have been cracked once they are a lot easier.

and lots of lube, she has to be wet of course!

Thanks. Used angle grinder in the end. When all else fails, it's the or a hammer... Put the Landy all back together, let her back up to temperature, all looked good... Test drive - still all was well... Bonnet up for a last check before declaring all sorted, noticed steam from the exhaust, turned off, checked the oil cap and fiend white sludgy stuff. So that's goodbye head gasket then!

Any ideas how much this going to cost me? Think this has gone beyond my skill level now.
