I currently have my own car that I insure and a company car.what I'm wanting to do is buy a motorbike and have that on the road as well.but I'd be cancelling my car insurance and insuring the motorbike.but i don't want to loose my no claims.ive got4 yrs no claims and will have5 in December.is there any way of keeping my no claims or using them on a motorbike insurance.

When I went from bikes to cars I couldn't use my no claims to transfer onto a car, I did remember back then on the comparison sites it asked if you had any no claims on bikes so maybe worth giving a couple of insurers a call to see if they will do anything or at least take it into consideration for you.

Il look into.i just want a bike but don't have enuf money to keep my landie as well, but I don't wana loose no claims.

Hi Adam,

Most companies unfortunately cannot take car No Claims Bonus onto a bike policy due to the risk of 2 wheels being much greater than 4.

When you cancel a car policy in the UK you then have 2 years before your No Claims Bonus expire, we can also accept up to 3 or even 4 years in some cases.

What I would suggest doing is if you want to cancel the car policy and buy a bike, just make sure you reinsure a car within 2 years of cancelling. Also make sure the insurer of your bike are aware that you do have car No Claims Bonus, as some may give you an introductory discount.

If you would like a quote, feel free to give us a call on 0800 1217431 and ask for the BikeSure department, to see what we can offer.

Best regards,

Jordan

Seeing as one cannot transfer NCB from 2 to 4 wheels and vice versa, it's a shame that points on a driving licence do operate the same way: Get banned for speeding on the motorcycle....and you cannot drive the car (or vice versa!).
