Am fitting my new skimmed head on my landrover v8. I Put the bolts in to make sure threads were ok one bolt came out with metal in the bolt so whats the best way to fix this . Is it with a helicoil kit (will it be strong enough when torque down ) or will it be better to just retap the thread and bolt .any help would be much app thanks

When you say metal came out with the bolt, do you mean that the bolt tore the thread and dislodged material as you pulled it out, or that it just had minor traces of metal on the bolt?

If the bolt was tight in and out, suggest you check the bolt itself for damage. Any bolt that doesn't spin down by hand is suspect and shouldn't be used.

I clean my threads out with a tap before I assemble the heads.
