Hi guys,
I'm newto the forum and have had a 90 previously but am now looking for another, but, i'm having a real headache trying to get to grips with how their being priced.
Can you take a look at the following picture and description, the give me your thoughts on what i should pay for something like this which is what i am looking for in most ways, except their being no winch :(

landy1.jpg

THIS SALE IS FOR A 1985 LANDROVER DEFENDER 90 COUNTY, THE VEHICLE IS VERY CLEAN AND TIDY ALROUND , OBVIOUSLY IT DOES HAVE SOME RUST ETC AS ITS 22 YEARS OLD, BUT FOR ONE OF THESE DEFENDERS AT THIS AGE ITS GOOD, THE CHASSIS ETC ARE VERY GOOD, IT HAS BEEN VERY WELL LOOKED AFTER BY THE SAME FAMILY FOR 16 YRS, IT HAS HAD LOTS OF MONEY SPENT ON IT INCLUDING

IT RUNS THE 200 TDI SERIES ENGINE

2 INCH LIFT KIT

WHINCH BUMPER ( WHINCH NOT INCLUDED)

HEADLAMPS IN BONNET

ROOFRACK

SUMP GAUARD AND DIFF GUARDS

SNORKELL

THE VEHICLE IS A VERY GOOD EXAMPLE AND IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A DEFENDER THEN THIS WOULD BE A VERY GOOD ONE TO GET AS ITS GOOD ALROUND AND HAS ALREADY HAD A LOT OF THE JOBS THAT YOU WOULD PROB END UP DOING ANYWAY

***END OF DESCRIPTION***

I would be grateful for any feedback from you all.
Thanks.

£2.5 - £3k would be my call, but to a large extent it's about what it is worth to you - there are loads of them about in your neck of the woods

That's without checking the chassis or engine

What's being asked for it?

Too much lol.
Not got to a fixed price with him yet but get the feeling it's gonna be between 3 and 3.5.
I expect a winch will set me back 3 to 400 on top aswell. But i do like it.
Also its' about 7hrs drive from me, but just havn't seen what i'm looking for down here.

If it's solid, with the toys you want and with the swap to 200 TDi done, then £3k would be as far as I'd want to go for a 1985.

£4k would get you a decent 1994 - 1996 300TDi which you could then gradually get how you want

it's a trader took it as part x and belonged to a landscape gardener for 16yrs apparently. He took the winch to put on his l200 which was his purchase from this guy.

To all intense and purposes it was a daily used and looked after 90, but, i cant just whip up and look it over and wouldn't be 100% what i was looking for anyhow. Chasis is my main worry as that's what put pay to my old one in the end.

I'd like to avoid having to add to much to get where i want as already on that with the car i've moded and mrs will kill me lol.

At least this would really only need the winch to get it useful for me and then i could tweek little bits here and there knowing it's looking ok.

Let us know how you get on

Not much more I can add for you I'm afraid

Where is the Landy - you might find a LZ member to either look it over with you, or take a look and report back.

On the plus side, peak price period is now behind us for another 6 months:D

It's near hartlepool.
As i said, miles away.
If there is a member willing to go take a peak then i would very much appreciate this. Don't mind paying the money if it's good but also don't want to lose a deposit if it's not + the costs of getting there and back as could run to a £400+ lose.

If anyone reading knows anyone in that area, please let them know about my plight lol.
I would of course cover any cost incurred, no issue.

Take the train/bus up rather than driving
I can fly up and get a small train hop no prob.
Issue is i have to organise getting back if its a walk away job and deposit would prob be a pig to get back also.

Not sure how to go about it. It's a little daunting right now.

Distance is ok if it's worth getting, can work that. It's knowing that it's worth getting as would be higher end of the budget and value to secure i know.

oldseadog is close - can't say whether he'd be able to help, but worth a PM

minty is also close - not sure when Pikey (her chap) is next up, as suspect he'd be willing to take a look

OSD/Mints - hope you don't mind my mentioning:rolleyes:

was looking at another in leeds but this has an lpg conversion. Same reg but owner wants 4500 for it.
Not even sure how an lpg would be done on a diesel engine, thought that was only petrol.
