I am in the process of doing some work on our 1994 Discovery 300Tdi and noticed when draining the oil that the car appears to have a sump plug missing from the bottom of the bellhousing of the gearbox.

That's what I think it is anyway...

Ive had a look in Haynes and the images in that look v different to what I'm seeing (in terms of me thinking its the drain plug for the gearbox oil).

Can someone please take a look here and let me know what it is I am missing?

Sorry they're upside down. The oil sump is seen in the pic for a reference point.

I imagine whatever I am missing needs fixing urgently! So quick responses much appreciated!

BTW tried the engine oil sump plug/bolt and that fits it ok...

Thank you

David

Tis just a wading plug mate, only really needed if your going wading so don't worry, best left out on dry roads anyway.
