Hi all

Having recently sourced a replacment 1.8 engine for the fecked freelander my father in law Graham and myself removed the old engine and replaced it with my "new" engine over a few days.
Well, this is were it turned in to a nightmare as when we removed the old engine we had a broken fuel pipe quick release clip on the injection manifold so Graham cut the fuel pipe to allow removal of the old engine:doh: and now the replacment engine is in and everything reconnected we cannot fit the "quick release bayonet fitting" into the fuel line tried all the usual things like boiling water ect to soften the fuel pipe but to no avail

can anyone help or point us in the right direction

That is a nighmare, you should have used a thin screwdriver on each end to release the pipe. that pipe is under alot of pressure so by just bodging it it will just pop, its a hard plastic pipe under the rubber.

yes we now know that:doh: but whats done is done

but the question is......what to do now, can the fuel pipe be remade ?

anybody any ideas please?

Id either replace the whole line or there is some stuff that drys like metal
so you can make a link pipe and seal it,

how far down did you cut it?

it was only sliced along the length of the "bayonet" so its still long enough.

has anyone done a sucssesful splice to this type of fuel pipe?

Does anyone know if the fuel feed line has a quick release fitting at the fuel tank end?

lots of questions i know but its all complete except fot this

i can't believe that we may have to replace the entire fuel line, i assume that the LR fuel line comes complete with the quick release fitting in place otherwise we would still be unable to fit the quick release fitting, what a nightmare this is turning out to be

any advise or help greatly appriciated
