Can anyone help i have just brought a 2001 vogue. When i went to look at it the battery was flat the bloke jumped it and it was ok for a few days as i was in and out of it all the time. I then left it for a week went back to it and the battery was flat. Put it on charge over night next day all ok and for next few days. Then left it for four days and flat battery again. I have put a meater on it while running and getting 14 volts just on tick over. So is this a comon fault on the Range if so what causes it or do i just need a new battery as it looks old and could have a dead cell. PLEASE HELP
 
It usually means your car is recieving signals triggering the alarm.....wifi etc.....
 
Have a look through the rangie threads or use the search at the top right.....It has been covered lots of times as its very common....usually means either disconnecting the ariel off the reciever or replacing the receiver with the newer model
 
under the back parcel shelf suppoert there is the reciever, disconnect the aerial to it, if this cures the problem then you need a new unit.

also 14v is normal output for the alternator!

i have left mine for a week and it does the same, just drive it every day!!!

or you can get a solar unit for about 30 quid to keep the battery charged whilst away for long periods!
 
if you disconnect the aerial from the receiver which is in the offside rear wheel cover under the parcel shelf,this will stop stray signals from messing with it,you will still be able to use the key remote but you will have to be very close to the receiver.
 
are you sure the battery is holding it,s charge ok,ive had one similar to that on my pajero years ago,it was ok for day to day use but leave it a few days and it was flat as a fart.
 
you could always take the battery to someone like halfrauds and they can do a load test on it.
 
usually just one, with a drop tester. not like the thick twonk at the haulfrauds near us who just put a multimeter across and reckoned it was dead on.

our polly ****ed him up hill and down dale and told him exactly what a load test achieved....:D
i was proud as **** till she told me she had been looking it up on the net:D
 
yeah my omega was spot on when tested with multi meter, tested it with proper mechanics thingy and it was dead, opened it up and it was almost dry, some fool forgot to check it!!!
 
Hello Arni,

Its not clear to me whether your car is faulty or if the battery might be toast.

Assuming the latter, you may want to consider testing it, which is possible with a simple multimeter and loading the battery with the lights and other electrical items on the car.
