hi i have a series iii that has had a 2.5 deisel put in it, it drives ok but dont have much power at high revs, thats not me main prob tho

at the moment it spits oil out of the dipstick, does any1 know how i can stop this or any ideas what would cause it.
 
Was thinking for a simpler solution.... is your filter clogged, are the egr filters clean... I remember someone having issues with the oil filler cap staying on, and it turned out to be plugged filters on the egr system... might want to check them...
 
That's a fair point, I think there was a thread in the gaylander area where someone was told they needed a new head for a similar problem. Turned out to be a breather pipe doubled over therefore pressurising the engine.

Don't know owt about the SIII diesel though.
 
aye its possible that a breather pipe is clogged up. but i was thinking about the loss of power too.
 
I think that it probably is the rings.. but a quick check of the breather system might be in order.... if the breather is clogged, pressurising the crankcase, it might be pushing oil into places it is not supposed to. As well the loss of power might be something simple as bad injectors or timing. Usually it is the simplist thing, or at least that is usually the best place to start, I am learning.. hahaha
 
re engine problems------ Power loss could be caused by dirty or waterlogged diesel filter partially blocked or crushed fuel lines. foreign object obstructing a valve in lift pump. Poorly set tappets. If you getting excessive blue smoke when you rev up after a few minutes tick over you have worn valve stem oil seals or piston rings. Try putting a new O ring on the dip-stick tube
