I have been a frequent member of landy forums and don't want to come across as newbi just looking for instant gratification [I just forgot what email I use- and which Landy forums I'm actually signed up with].

Help.
I drove a project out into the open [to sell off on ebay] and now it is wet and remains unsold it is time to put it back into storage- and nothing, the red led that goes off but no dash lights- and apparently no other lights or power.
Battery off and checked- and still nothing.
Checked the fuses- fine - checked voltage on both sides of relays and fuses and power is fine.
However the head lights didn't appear to work= I forgot in frustration only for neighbour to tell me lights had been left on- and they are but just weak [invisible in daylight].

My first response was the immobiliser- I replaced the batteries and even found the spare fob- but no joy. and after obsessing about the immobiliser I am convinced that somewhere there is a poor connection or other similar issue.
To recap- battery checked and charged, immobiliser fob has new battery, red LED goes out, tiny amount of power going to headlights when turned on- but not enough to run any other electrics. [but slightly clicking that sounds like the fuel pump somewhere near the n/s footwell].
Earth to chassis and body clean and secure.

Suggestions very welcome.

I'd fully charge the battery again ... It takes mine about three days, even with a good (smart CTEK) charger, to get a proper charge that the battery will hold.

1998, 300tdi manual- pretty standard with the addition of another immobiliser. although that does have another little red LED that does go out when connect the extra fob.
As for charge the battery is only a year old and was a healthy 13.5 volts after a proper charge.

I was wondering if it was an obvious break in the circuit like something on the steering column.

Does sound like a bad earth ref ur headlights being so dim, have u tried using a jump lead from the battery earth post to the engine to see if it improves things
 
Did you measure the voltage on the battery with ignition and lights on? if an old battery was once flat it might show you voltage unconnected after a charge but the voltage drops very much under load .

All I can think of doing else, is check all connections and wiring that relates to 12v power delivery, fuses, fusible links, and check continuity along the way so you might at least get an idea of where power delivery stops.

Thanks- I think I was being optimistic/desperate to think that it is a simple fix- and after searching various LR forums the inevitable is to completely bypass the immobilisers and do a step by step check.
Just to add to confusion the alarm actually went off last night and again this morning- which it has never done, I didn't even knew it ever worked!

I insist...measure the battery while it's connected with ignition on please and tell us the voltage
I did test all live terminals [including those in the fuse/relay boxes] with ignition on- and since posting my desperation the alarm [which never has worked in the time I've owned the disco actually went off [the cat has made his home].
As I went away for the w/e and not wanting to annoy the neighbours I disconnected the battery- came back and reconnected it today and everything works.
?!?
LR love them, hate them, and I really need to start thinking about needing them.
For anyone with a similar problem in the future- try turning them off and on again- or at least disconnecting and reconnecting the battery.
