Started the project of swapping the EDC fuel injection pump to the mechanical pump......so far everything is a straight forward swap...apart from now having fueling issue.
After fitting the mechanical pump, aligned the timing belt where 9mm drill bit slotted into injection pump sprocket, mark on cam sprocket pointed at 7 o'clock ish and aligned to the 'arrow', crank shaft woodruff key slot pointing straight up aligned to the notch on block............started the engine, but it runs at 2000 rpm and climbing further, with lot & lots of white smoke & heavy diesel smell. There's also a very fast note of loud 'bup bup bup' sound......causing my neighbours rushing out cos they thought a fighter plane was nearby
Read on Rave that the injection timing on 300tdi non-EDC is 1.54mm lift at TDC, while the injection timing on 300tdi EDC is 0.45mm lift at TDC........not sure what this means, and wonder if this has something to do with the fueling issue I am having now.....
So, would appreciate someone having a better idea on what might be going on, point me to what I should do next....
