Opened up this morning started ok. Passenger door very stiff to open Ice?
wouldnt shut again the latch not locking on striker. Sprayed with wd40 then moved back and forth with screw driver. Now the latch is locked in the shut position with door open. Taken card off and both outside and inside handles are working but latch not disengaging. Tried locking unlocking with fob no joy. the little pawl the handles move down when opening moves freely. Now run out of ideas. Any help appreciated

Do you think the latch is fecked and needs changing

Not sure, to be honest. Seeing as you have the door card off I'd be tempted to take the latxh mechanism inside and take it apart. Once off check the rods in the door all move freely. Nice day to be outside getting frostbite in your fingertips!

Your lucky you got the doors open at the moment.
I opened the 4.6 once and it was the same "sticky locks" very cold, so started the car and tried to shut the door for it to warm up door would shut so I slammed the door a bit harder and it managed to jiggle the cill button enough (to yes you guessed it) locked the car with it still running:eek:.

Where do you keep your spare key? dont say in the glove box:rolleyes::rolleyes:. managed to get into it before it ran out of petrol:p.

So yes I would be having a look at the latch while you can:).

Just nearly got the latch out just struggling with the rod to outside handle having a break as its very tiring for me

Put a screw driver or bit of round bar in where the door lock where the latch bar that is on the B post would go, then pull in the opening direction ie to the inside of the door, whilst pulling the door handle in the open direction. the latch hook should spring back into the open position.

Cheers Keith tried that with both inner and outside handles. No joy. Both handles work but not the latch. Dropped the latch off by the 3 screws and will take it out tomorrow as became a bit exhausted, only door handle rod to disconnect then its out. Pushed door shut and tied some rope from door to handbrake to keep it closed for tonight

Almost certainly frozen, I've just had the same (initial) problem with our daily.
Assuming it's just iced up try some gentle heat with a hairdryer, don't go mad though as there is a lot of plastic components in modern door locks.

Just had a look at the latch at kitchen table. Sometimes it locks and unlocks with a bit of moving about with screwdriver. Not confident in putting it back on so ordered one from breaker on the bay. Have used them before and been OK..Swapped rope holding door shut with a ratchet strap wrapped round seat and hooked onto door til it arrives

Take it apart. If not ice, clean the white grease off and reassemble. The grease goes hard.

What's a hairdryer then?

John, if you're too tired again tomorrow and can't manage it, let me know and I'll head over...I'm helping out at the soup kitchen until early afternoon.

Nice one, John!
I advertised the Citroën C2 on Faceache's Marketplace Thursday night. A guy from South Elmsall took 3 trains to Beverley and bought it yesterday lunchtime. £350 profit made on it!
Have a WONDERFUL Christmas, matey!
