Hi all

Wonder if anyone can help me? I have an R-reg V8i ES Disco on which the remote and central locking packed up a few months ago. I now have a much bigger problem in that the immobiliser seems to be permanently 'on', and I can't go anywhere. Are the two related, is the problem likely to be with the key or a fuse or something more seriously electrical, and is there any way I can bypass the immobiliser permanently? At the moment I have to short the battery.

Thanks for any suggestions!
Martin

there is a way to bypass it , but you will lose all your central locking and the main alarm 2 choices really , i take it the fob has packed up ???
1/ if fobs not working main dealers will charge around £120 for sync new fob and re-programme .
2/ find a decent auto electrician hwo will bypass it in 10 mins for about £40

Thanks very much Robin. Might try the second option - it's an R-reg V8 LPG and hence not worth a lot of money, so I don't want to spend too much!
Cheers

Oops, I ought to try reading, maybe .. ;)

Sorry.

Hi Paul D... What is mis-leading is this above "find a decent auto electrician hwo will bypass it in 10 mins for about £40" because not only is the V8 fuel pump immobilised but also circuits within the engine ECU, so not able to fit bypass feeds to that as you can with a and it's pump thingy. :)

I dunno, I probably only half-read it and 'V8' just didn't register but I knew I'd seen the immobiliser thing related to 300 series Discos and probably just didn't appreciate the differences between diesel and petrol .. :)

If its any help Bearmach Caerphilly, South Wales, can supply and code new replacement fobs for around £60.

wot a load of bollocks !!:D
i got dds on me disco ok not a v8 but its possible to bypass the whole immobiliser fingy ..... ive have it done !!!:D:D:D

I have also bypassed dds systems.

I can't be 100% sure but as far as I'm aware the spider bypass plug also works on V8's. As they only cost £8 from the main stealer and sell for £15 on ebayfor if it doesn't work, I would say it has to be worth a shot.
