As title. I turn the key dash lights up as it should but thats all that happens. Any advice. There is a click from the passenger foot well area.

You've got a bad connection somewhere. Start at the battery by taking off the two connections and clean to shiny metal and reassemble. If that doesn't do it follow each wire doing the same with each connection. If that doesn't work there's a strap between the chassis and the engine, take that off and clean the connections.

Odds on it's the battery connectors though.

I'll give it ago. Cheers bud. The dash all lights up as bright as normal the glow plugs do there thing. Are you sure it's battery terminals or similar. I should probably mention that I had driven 20 minute journey then parked for 30 mins. Got back in and click.

Check the connectors to the starter motor. Assuming it's a manual you could try bump starting it if you've got access to another vehicle powerful enough to tow it.

I listed the likeliest possibilities in order. It could be something else, but not likely.

It's a moment with a spanner and a green scourer pad to do the battery terminals.

It is a bad connection on either battery, starter or earth.
Or you starter motor has died

Are you and your passengers safe? Are you parked off of the highway?

I reckon it’s one of the relays or the immobiliser.
Check relays behind pass footwell side panel first

I've had to abandon it for now. As my wife has a hospital appointment and I need to be home for the kids. I'll head back over later and fingers crossed get it going again. Thanks for the advice guys.

Once again thanks for the advice everyone. One very wet back later it turned out to be the main earth strap. The heated seat was a god send to help dry me off on the way home.

Glad it was something simple (nice thing about the old 300tdi engines is it usually is!)
