hi everyone, hope someone can help !! i have a freelander td4 2002 , it only has a tape player in and its driving me mad without a cd player. As i am a women i really just want to be able to take the tape player out and put a cd player straight in, is this possible ?? if so what cd player do i need to purchase and does it have to be a land rover one or will a sony etc fit, eagerly awaiting your replys !!!!

changed the standard rad/cass in my 98 freelander to a jvc radio/cd/mp3 player no additional wiring or adadptor required all the landrovers plugs fitted nice and neatly into the new head unit and even the bog standard door speakers sound ok up till about 75 full volume. thats when you realise that after market speakers would be better but nobody makes speakers to fit freelanders so you need a set of speaker adaptors of ebay £15 (or there abouts) per pair then most aftermarket speakers wil fit.

Un a boom boom box, boom boom boom boom boom boom , all fookin all over the fookin place, fookin boom boom boom boom boom boom.

Then the fookers go ter wurk un complain it's too noisy un they wunt ear duffendurs.
 
The standard head unit is good sound. Any standard front loader will fit, as with most, they have ISO plugs that you just reconnect. You might have to fit the aftermarket chassis so it locks in securely. CD front loaders going for £85 upwards. If you have the money get a Nakamichi head unit, unbelievable sound quality
 
or get the multichanger upgrade for the head unit you've got. got mine spanking new from duckworths for a shade over £40. Took under an hour to fit, even when I took my time and did it all proper. instructions are crystal clear, all you need is a small allen key to undo the fixings of the head unit, everything else you need is included in the kit.

pains me to say it, but pop into halfords and buy a headunit from them, will fit for you too
 
Hi Jodie, why don't you just buy a FM modulator with a USB stick, put all your favourate music on it plug it into your lighter/utility socket tune the FM Modular to an extra radio station and you can listen to all your favourate music as mp3's you can fit an unbelievable number of mp3's on a 1G USB stick.

Does that include the cable? they are pricey.

I once got a multichanger stolen from another car.

I had only just installed it in a brand spanking new motor, that evening it was nicked.
The chavs ripped out the changer that was mounted in the boot upright on the rear seat. I mean...... all they had to do was undo the four self tappers

I was more annoyed by having to replace 6 CD's that were stolen.
 
cd's????? sooooooo 90's :rolleyes:

easiest solution get an fm modulator, fleabay for bugger all or tesco for a few quid, connect it to an mp3 player nae probs

othewrwise get the new head unit with usb and or SD slot for easy portable sounds....

dump the disc:D

Thanks everyone 4 your replys, you were all very helpful , and hopefully i will be boogieing to my own music now sooner rather than later. x
 
will check the part no and exact cost for you tonight. came as a complete kit, all cables, mounting screws even cable ties. as a point of note, I never have orginal cds in the car, always make a copy just in case
 
MP3, ipods are all well and good but compressed music files are not as good sound quality as a CD. Even better quality on a CD single. Ive been using MiniDisc since the theft of the Pioneer system, no regrets
 
i got a sony bluetooth headunit from halfords for £106 - cracking bit of kit, plays mp3, has input on front for ipod and links to my phone for handsfree calling:D :D oh and the standard iso connectors fit straight in, 1 fer speakers and 1 fer power - you cant put in the wrong slots as the locating pins are offset
