hello, i have a land rover discovery 200tdi.

today i was driving home after leaving the truck parked in the rain i might add (not sure if the rain had any effect). i noticed that the radio kept turning off and coming back on a second later, i assumed it was a fault on the radio and so turned it off. i then noticed that the battery/charge light on the dash was flashing once every now and again.

i decieded that i would try to drive home incase it wouldnt start again, but half way home i put my foot down and had no reponse ? so i pulled over and put it in neutral but a few seconds later the engine stalled?

i turned off the ignition and tried to start it and the engine turned over like normal. i then had no problems on the rest of the trip home.

when i came back the the truck the central locking would not power the locks, the alarm would turn off but it didnt seam to have the power to cycle the locks. i turned off the alarm and used the key and jumped in expecting to have to bump start it. but it started first time, no lag or spluttering.

on that trip to the shop that battery light again flashed a few times but the engine did not fully stall.

although i might add that when the battery light flashes it does seem like the engine stops few a split second ( but i might be bumping its self back to life).

i hope i have been detailed enough in this discription but if not i will be happy to answer and try things. i am new to the land rover lot and not really had to do much with it yet and dont really know where to start looking for a problem.

thanks in advance for all your help,

Chris

At a wild guess..i'd say your water pump is about to implode and at the mo its causing your belt to seize.

thanks again but what do you guys mean by a 1pw ?
ok we will be kind as youve passed the not spitting dummy out noobie test

1st you introduce yrself on the forum in the intro section its just the done thing

1pw is a one post wonder,so many people come on ere find the answer to there fault and then bugger off and wre never heard from again

theres so many things your fault could be but batterys n alternator and earth leads is where i would be looking first

yeh it does bounce around alot but it has for a while now but was told it was due to the bigger tires... but im going to guess this was a lie lol

Could be but sounds more electrical to me.....something effecting the fuel solenoid? I'd start at battery terminals and work through.....but then tis all a bit of a mystery to me
