So had to brake quite quickly for a bunny...and my phone ended up going through the gap underneath the steering wheel and is now in that empty compartment. It's quite happy...and there doesn't seem to any budging it.

It looks as though at the driver's door side there is an access panel. How do I get it off? I Have tried to lever it slightly ...but not having any luck and to be honest I'm sure it's supposed to come off.

Can anyone give me any ideas?

Thank you!!

Sorry it's been a long day, with a long drive and a flashing steering wheel!

It's a freelander 2 (08).

Well at least it wasn't the make up mirror, what vehicle?

No it wasn't in my hands it's on blue tooth. I don't touch it while driving. It was in my hoodie pocket. I don't quite know how I've managed it - doubt I could do this trick twice!

I would post this question in the Freelander section. Freelander owners tend not to venture into the main forum very often for some reason. :scratching_chin::scratching_chin::D

Apparently so! I have absolutely no idea how it got under there - the gap doesn't seem big enough....

Annoyingly I usually have it in the charging cradle on a long drive, so it can't fly anywhere....the one time I forget...!

One, why would you stop for a rabbit? Are you hoping to start a crash?
Two, bull****, no way could a phone leap out of your pocket and slide under your steering wheel, the physics involved would have killed you. If you said it was ballanced on your lap I might've believed you.

Most trim comes off with a little force, given it is a freelander, I suspect all you need to do is get it wet.

call your breakdown club up and get em to send out a patrol.;)

Easiest way is to either reverse really fast then brake hard so it slides out, turn the gaylander upside down and shake it or burn the area around the phone :p only kidding, try some long tongs like you would use on a BBQ

I only came here because you are all experts on the car, I've not had it long and didn't want to start pulling it apart without knowing what I'm doing. Strangely enough the mech's phone number is on the phone or I'd ring him.

I have no idea how it managed to do so, didn't even know there was that much space under the steering wheel. I wouldn't have stopped if there was traffic but it was an empty road and I don't kill animals just for fun.

I'm sorry for bothering all of you.
