I went to adjust my timng this morning on my 1972 2.25 petrol engine running with a ducellier distributor. As I loosened the clamp for the distributor, the distributor popped up and will not go back down (the clamp is actually below the o-ring.) I pulled the distrubutor right out and the offset piece. I also took off the tube that the distributor runs in. The bottom of the tube has some wear on it as the drive gear has been running on it. I can't seem to get the drive gear out, nor get it to sit backdown. Anyone have any clue as to what might have gone wrong.

this sounds like a good one. i'll have to go have a spliff and a think.i'll get back to you if no one else does.

well the shaft that drives the iol pump had jumped up ontop of the gears in the oil pump... so once I loosened the oil pump the shaft fellback in and the drive gear dropped down. replaced the grub screw and Bob is your uncle. Luckily only time and one grubscrew.....

i'll put that one in me little book of weird landy ****. sorry i couldn't be more help but i couldn't find a roach

well it seemed that no one wanted to touch that one.... had it posted on 3 forums and only one response. Well at least we found the problem and got it fixed. Thanks.

i don't think it was no one wanted to to touch it . it was probelly more that it was a out of the ordinary one that needed a bit ot thought,or the misfortune for it to have happened to someone else before hand.
if i wasn't so busy i might have spent more time thinking about it but i didn't, so i didn't.
atleast if it happens again we can say right away.
