Hi everyone. New guy here. Don’t have my Land Rover yet but I’ve had a couple of 4x4’s in the past.
Looking now at picking up a 2007 (57) Freelander 2 TD4 with 99,000 on it. But it has the dreaded diff whine although the dealer says he’ll fix it.
Any advice appreciated.

Welcome to the forum.

It could be the haldex unit or rear diff or both failing. Can also be a rear wheel bearing. Don't buy it until it's fixed. Not even a deposit. Always make the garage repair it for you rather than a commitment to do something int future.

Freelander section over ere:

Thanks Hippo. I’ll look into the threads. I’ve got four options to choose from near me (I’m after an HSE) just need to weigh it all up.

Thanks. The name is an old nickname I was given because I used to spend a lot of time marching around gravel parade grounds trying to get Cadets to go in straight lines in step - hence Gravelgrinder.

Welcome.
That's what you get for being a youth group leader ;) The problem with youth groups is just that, they're full of 'youths ' ( better known as young teenagers, these days ). Youths and straight lines dont really mix. Unless its a queue for McD's :D
