Finally bitten the bullet and joined this forum as it seems to be the best place to get advise on the purchase of a 110
The wifey and I have decided we want to travel round the UK and Europe and do some camping (when work lets us off for good behavior) over the next god knows how many years. To do this we've decided to buy (probably early next year) a late model TD5 110 as this seems to be the preferred model (according to a lot of helpful people we spoke to at last weekend LRO show in Peterborough). We are planning to spend approx £15k on the 110 plus another £3k kitting it out. These figures are on a sliding scale where we can either spend more on the 110 if it already has the kit or less on a decent older TD5 and then more on the kit.
The "kit" we're looking at is Roof rack, chequer plate on bonnet and wings, snorkel (nice to have), side steps, air con, re-chipped ECU and bigger intercooler, comfy seats, sound proofing (as well as can be expected).
After trawling through various forums it would appear there are some slightly unscrupulous (being charitable here) dealers out there of which I'm not going to name names on this thread as that would be unfair, even to "Arthur Daily" who sold me a 90 TDi300 last year described as being "solid", took him all of a week to give me a refund once I mentioned the "sale of goods act" :fencing: so I would really appreciate some advice on dealers in the Midlands area that treat their customers well.
