I have just joined and wish you all a good weekend.
I bought 1975 109 last year as good vehicle to deal with the rainy season out in Kenya my wife's home country.
I have just had an engine rebuild and despite this a small crack has appeared in the cyclinder head.(just visible)
Finding a good machanic out here can be more than troublesome.
So with some help on here and some manuals I hope to do as much to my one 109 as I can.
As getting nowhere with local machanics.
I done small amount of work on cars back home in the U.K. And some basic jobs already on the Land Rover.
I shall be back on here soon and will bye for now.

Welcome aboard :)

Which engine is in your 109? Got any pictures of the vehicle - we like piccies :D

This crack in the cylinder head, on a rebuilt engine, sounds a bit poor.... where abouts ?

Good Afternoon
There is 2.3 petrol engine in it.
When the rebuild was done some larger positions were put in,size 40.
So it is about 2.5 now.

I will take the cover off Tomorrow and get a photo of the head.
It is only just visible and there is a small amount water appearing.
But not mixing with the oil yet.
The head has been on the car for 20 years.

My knowledge of mechanics is not fantastic as chef and tennis coach!
So going to get a Haynes manual sent over.
Would recommend a Haynes manual or another one?

At the moment the car runs well while warm but when it heats up on a climb tends to loose power.

I have fitted a new distributor, cool and leads and now the car is running more consistently than before.

When I get a manual I going to have a go at taking of the timing cover and see if timing is good.
To see what is causing the loss of power on a hill.

Cheers
