Hi everyone. Recently bought a 1996 Discovery to get us through the country lanes now we have moved to deepest Devon. So - first of all many thanks for all the help and advice available on this forum which helped me find a Discovery which is, i think, pretty good for age and mileage. Of course there's a bit of rust in the boot floor, but I gather that's how they left the factory. Of course, it is noisy, smokey, and can be out-accelerated by the average bicycle, but otherwise I think (touch wood) I got a reasonable deal.
One little niggly fault which isn't really serious, but maybe someone has had the same problem ......... All the electric windows work from their respective switches (front switches for front windows and rear switches for rear windows. But - the switches for the rear windows in the front console don't work at all. According to Haynes (and their wiring diagrams are probably a bit basic) the two circuits are completely separate so a fault in one switch / circuit should not affect the other and vice versa. I suspect an earth problem, but even the earthing would seem to be separate. Also - the isolator switch for the rear windows works OK. Before I start to take everything apart and get a multimeter on all the connections - anyone had a similar problem, or any thoughts on what might be the fault ?
I'm sure there will be other things I will request support with, but in the meantime, the priority is to get the EGR blanking plate bought and fitted, and to squeeze some gunge around the fixed windows at the back end.
Cheers.
