Hello all,

When I got the car the sunroof wasn't working and it was leaking. So I came up with a plan to fix it and first was to either get the motor going or locate it and then open it with a screwdriver. I found the motor and the previous owner had unplugged the motor (good idea) so I plugged it back in. The sunroof was now working and open. When I tried to close it again I heard the plastic teeth slipping so I stopped and turned off the ignition.

The car will now not let me turn the key. The sunroof is now fully forwards but still tilted. When I lock the car I get the notification that something is open (the sunroof). So I believe the car will start again once it detects that the sunroof is closed.

What do I need to do to, aside from burning the car, to close the sunroof and get it working again?

Should I also post this on the Freelander sub-forum?

Well this is a bit embarrassing turns out the steering lock was on and the car works. So I just need to sort out the sunroof now. Looking forward to the banter coming my way

Glad we didn’t have to tell you why the key won’t turn :D

If you ask int FL section they’ll know how to close it. Other vehicles I’ve had usually come with a little handle somewhere that you can use to wind it closed manually? - if you have the booklet with your vehicle it would say in there. Sometimes a previous owner has kept it stashed somewhere innocuous.
