Dear all, hello!
Happy new year.
I’m James, new to discovery 2 ownership, I’ve been lurking on several forums over the past couple of months doing bits of reading on various things relating to discovery ownership.
I’ve got a 2000 discovery 2 td5 (Es) as a project, hopefully to re mot and run as a daily driver. So no crazy modifications yet... but I do have a small list of things to do.
I’m a teacher by day, but come from the world of classic mini ownership and diy-ing. I’ve built a few mini engines etc so am fairly handy, but they are not as complex as the discovery- I don’t think I’ll rebuild a td5 yet!
I’m enjoying the bolt apart nature of the thing and the space to work under it!
I’ve a question too about warning lights, which I’ll post in the appropriate section.

Welcome. You came to the right place. The loonies around here know stupid amounts of stuff about the affliction of Land Rover ownership.

Welcome to the looonyzone.
A few things to make sure of on the D2.

Make sure you get the EKA code.
Get a second working key and fob , if you do not have a spare.
Make sure the key works in the drivers door.

Cheers

Thanks for the advice - I do have a spare but the buttons won’t work - the red light flashes but no lock/unlock. It will start the car if the other key has been pressed to take off the immobiliser. I presume the bcu has forgotten the key and it needs re coding with nanocom?
Where do I find this EKA code?

Thanks all for the friendly welcomes!
James

EKA code can be got from your local landy dealer for free with proof of ownership. Unless it is on the security card with any paperwork you have.

or if you have a nanocom you can get it from the car.

Cheers

Best to use a Nanocom as the EKA can be changed (by Nanocom) in which case the LR dealers records will be wrong.
I had mine changed to something memorable to me and easier to input and then recorded it in the D2s paperwork.
