Just joined today. I've lived with a 2008 Defender XS for the last 6 1/2 years, a return to my youth as I learned to drive on a series 3 many years ago. Being a vehicle that comes complete with a character we have the odd off day (leads me to believe I have a female one !) & in general we understand one another, it (she) doesn't bug me on my off days & I extend it (her)the same courtesy, so we tend to have a pretty good working relationship. Recently however I feel it (she) is trying to tell me something ; when started up the handbrake, ABS & TC warning lights are staying illuminated, if I stop the engine & remove the key then restart the lights go out, they will then come back on whilst driving. Occasionally I can hear the TC kick in for no reason. When this first happened I was on loose gravel on a hill the TC kicked in & put the brakes on. Anyone out there had the same problem or is someone a Defender 'whisperer' who can tell me what it's (she's) trying to tell me please ? We have a DIY code reader which isn't helping. I usually tow quite regularly but am worried that the brakes will come on if we get on a loose surface . I need to get it (her) to a LR specialist but need to tow at weekend & cannot get booked in until next week.

Get yourself over to the Defender section and probably invest in a nanocom!
The guys n Gals in the Defender section will be able to point you in the right direction!

Might be worth trying forum search as well. I am not familiar with that kind of vehicle, but sounds to me like it is what is known as a three amigos issue. Think it isn't usually serious, but to do with sensors malfunctioning. Been a lot of talk about it on the forum! ;) Best of luck! :)

Thank you Turboman, someone else mentioned the 3 amigos fault but had no idea what to do about it . Will have a search on the forum.
