Hi there every one,
I have just come ashore after many years working on ships tugs and just about anything marine, still not wanting to vegetate in a corner I have taken a job with a farmer where I am expected to look after his antique and "is that still running" equipment, so here is my problem He has said I have the use of "the Disco" which is now run on red diesel and has no reg number no back windows and is so I can get around the various farm sites without using my own car (it just would not do it) so he then gave me the latest on this vehicle = it will not start !
Looking under the bonnet I see what was an alarm unit with all the 4 wires cut. he assured me it drove OFF the low loader and was used for a few weeks but then the battery went flat and it is now dead.
I have put my multi meter on the pre heat and they are getting voltage when the key is turned (times off as expected) there are two (three cable connectors) to the fuel pump, on one I get circuit between the outer cables when the ignition is turned on and no connection when the key is OFF. All the fuses I can find are OK I dismantled no's 1 injector pipe and when the engine is turned over no fuel so where can I or what can I do to gain fuel from the injector pump.
The fuse case say's fuel pump but I do not hear any and some this would not fully run until oil pressure command but that is like on marine equipment where I have diagrams and build info but here I have a red Disco which I can use IF I can get the thing to run!
As I have about as much knowledge as a demented gnat when it comes to Land Rover Electrics I would appreciate as much help as possible (my Honda CRV would last about a week on the farm fields and Im loathed to put all the tools and stuff inside then try to drive to the middle of a muddy field) I am using a Tractor at the moment and OH how not much fun is that!.
If there is a way to over come the immobiliser so that I can start the thing I will be a happy old boy, there is no need to lock it as there are no back windows anyway lol.

Thanks in advance R

Wish I could help but I know even less than demented gnats. Hope you managed to get it sorted and good luck with your farm job. The Disco isn't stolen is it?

No It's got MRA in signs all over it and I trust the farmer so if he say's it drove then I would say I believe him also there is another three similar vehicles which all the other farm hands use to get from field to field and as there is another with the same signs I would say he bought them job lot. It's funny though the other has al the windows IN even though the sign which can be seen on the glass isn't in line with the rest of a slightly different shade on the body lol.

+1 On what Norfolk Bird said,

Also would hepl if you know what engine it has, even a phot of the engine will help identify it.

Have you manually operated the lift pump? if it is an older 200 / 300 tdi.

Cheers

Wherabouts are you? have you done all the obvious [sure you have] filters, fuel lines etc.? TBH I know nothing of modern diesels but often electrikery is suspected when basics ought to be explored................. good luck
