Hi all,

I'm new to this Land rover lark, have owned a 4x4 before and am currently the owner of the Land Rover of motorcycles.....

I'm looking to be the owner of a defender at some point next year and am looking to get as much advise about these beasts as possible. I'm planning an overland trip to Slovakia next year with camping and some mild offroading so all advise and tips are welcomed...

Looking forward to hearing from you all..

Chris.

AKA the Cossack But I never knew they had a reserve gear?? is that for emergencies only or summat. Mine had a reverse gear as well as the reserve one.

:welcome2:Why would you need a reverse gear on a motorcycle. Turning circle aint exactly big.

Nope but with that fooking huge sidecar hanging off em they weigh a fair bit. Think 2nd WW German Army bike & sidecar combo. The Russkis copied em and added about 250kg extra weight to the fookers.

twas a referance to the Iti military vehicles all having a faster reverse gear than forward...i shall refrain from wit.

S'not bloody Iti, it's Russian!!

Scotsman: They have reverse gears cos they're built as outfits, have you ever tried shoving a heavy combo round? ;)
