Hello everyone,

I'm new to the forum having lurked for a few weeks

My story so far: recently purchased a Disco TD5 Auto with 85k on the clock from local dealer. She seems to be in fine fettle save for a couple of teething troubles which I'm guessing are familiar to forum regulars: rain leaking in from rear sunroof which dealer fixed after a couple of attempts; air suspension sagged after a couple of weeks, so dealer replaced with springs. Now happy on both counts.

Since then I've done ~2k miles with no big probs. Done 1 job of my own so far, replaced top hose due to coolant weeping out of bleed screw, seemed to go smoothly enough (used a carrot to bung bottom coolant rail).

Pros: loving the way it drives; loving the practicality (main reason for buying); fuel economy surprisingly good for a 2-ton auto (been getting 27 to 28 mpg); find it quite comfortable; mrs joojar now likes it after initial doubts

Cons: all the usual and well-known weak points are a worry; interior trim seems to be dropping off like apples in autumn; engine layout is a mystery, almost like it was deliberately designed for every hose to chafe on something hard; tow-plate kills departure angle (result: lots of furrows in tarmac now appearing near our house)

Plans: get her waxoyled; snorkel; homebrew bio-diesel; maybe take an angle-grinder to the tow-plate
