Hello all.
My apologies for not making a proper introduction.. Better late then never. :)
31 years old man, like "old" English cars, work as an IT-guy in my dayjob.
Just bought a 2001 Freelander with some problems, the HG not beeing one of them. My old man drove around in old Austins, minis and misc. motorbikes, Ariel, BSA, Norton etc. So my car choices may have been a bit influenced by that.

Been active at MG-Rover.org - The unofficial MG and Rover enthusiasts website for some years, and found the people on these kind of forums very helpfull. Sharing wisdom and parts, I have had people from all over the world gathering parts and send them to me, and have sent my share of spares to others. I hope Landyzone is similar, so far so good! :)

Owning an MGF has thought me a lot about the K-series engine, good and bad. Owning British cars have thought me to use ebay.co.uk, alot. :)

I'm currently having issues with my tailgate window, not the usual faults it would seem, thread located here (If anyone have some input).

The car is pretty standard, the first pictures are taken by the previous owner.
I have made some minor changes to the car, black/silver badges around the car, clear side indicators, some black/silver Union flags under the side repeaters, white/red taillights and some stickers for fun.
I have plans to fit a foglight kit, that i bought from the US (If it will fit, discussions are currently going on in this thread, change a rear ABS unit as i have the "3 amigos", fixing all the windows, getting the car trough the Norwegian MOT and generally some TLC.

Pardon my english, and I hope to contribute to the LR scene via this forum.

Thank you for taking the time to read this introduction. :)

Morten

welcome matey.
this is a great forum, but you will need a thick skin and a good sense of humour.:D

Welcome Morten, good introduction and nice photos and nothing wrong with liking old british cars, I too have had Wolseleys, Jaguars, Triumphs, Standard Vanguards, and now Land Rovers. I've got the oil stains on my drive to prove it.

Thank you again peaople!:) Don't know why I'm attracted to these cars, perhaps it's the community? The cheap parts and helpfull fellow owners? :) I really envy the prices of parts and cars over in the UK, a second hand FL1 98-02 is still at least £4k over here. Busted ones, HGF etc. is £1,5-2. :(

morten.
have you ever thought of buying cars over here then taking them back home and selling them there???

I like the oh **** sticker :D

Cheers mate. :) If you keep getting flak from everyone, why not put a sticker on it to just scream to the world: "Yes I know It's a ****ty car, but I do love it anyway" ;) Perhaps make a fellow motorist smile one my journey to work. (I really do hope I don't have a brakedown, with that sticker on the back though... ;)

Very fitting for a K series :D

Fair play though, may as well ;)

Norwegian government took care of that ages ago, with import taxes, Norwegian VAT and all the extra costs of having a car over here. Road tax alone on my 3 cars are £1K a year.. :S AND it's the LHD/RHD thing.. ;) Personally I have no problems driving on the other side of the road, drove in the UK many times, as well as on a motorbike in India, but I fear having the steering wheel on the "wrong side of the car" (and please, we don't have to start a debate.. ;) ) puts potential buyers of, I'm afraid.

Haha, I know. Managed to drive my MGF for Almost a WEEK! Before it suffered from a HGF.. ;) Having owned a rover 400, 75, F and now a Freelander, I know the enemy.. ;)

(I do drive around with a wifi OBD2 interface in the diag. port on the FL, constantly monitoring the coolant temp on my "smart" phone.. ;) )

I don't need that on the disco :p the engine is over cooled!

RHD is the "correct" side for a British car, in my opinion. ;)
However, I might be outnumbered amongst my fellow Norwegians. ;)
