Hi,

Just joined the forum and live in Aberdeenshire - about 15 miles NNW of Aberdeen.

A few months ago I finally fulfilled a long standing ambition and purchased an early Defender. I used to travel about in a Defender in the TA - left hand drive and very slow!

My current and first Defender is a 1990 SWB 2.5 TD. Later discovered I should have gone for the 200tdi! Not had condition for the age but has a few oil seals which require replacing.

Not done much off roading as yet - keen to get the landy mechanically sound first. But delighted at last to have joined the world of Landrovers!

Welcome from Perthshire. I'm not familiar with independent landy garages in your area, but there must be some traditional grease monkeys locally that know landys. Around here there are Strathern Engineering at Auchterarder just off the A9 south of Perth. Good specialist landy garage but can be expensive for labour. They have a website. Tartan Defenders in Kinross are a new business and specialist in Defenders. There's also GEM 4x4 in Larbert, very experienced in all models. Saw your other post. You could easily do the oil seals yourself if you have the tools and confidence. You can pick up spares online. Try Craddocks or Paddocks. The fuel problem is more tricky and appreciate your frustration as a lot of modern diesel specialists will not be familiar with the engine. Good luck with the project.
