Hi all,
Just introducing myself, I've been viewing the site as a guest for a while and have taken the plunge and bought a 2003 discovery ES TD5 with 72k on the clock I've joined the site because you guys seem to have all the answers to the questions I have and I like the humour, I absolutely love the beast but am having second thoughts about the reliability of it, I bought it from a local independent specialist who I must say is falling over backwards to help, picked it up on the 22nd of November and the next day there was diesel dripping from the drivers side of the engine, the dealer picked it up the following day and fitted a new fuel pressure regulator, less than a week later the 3 amigos appeared, it was a faulty abs sensor which the dealer replaced, 4 days later 3 amigos again this time faulty shuttle valves which again the dealer replaced, 5 days later two green flashing lights and it goes into get me home mode, this time a faulty XYZ switch which was again replaced by the dealer, 2 days later pool of engine oil under car, dealer again repaired a failed gasket, and last Sunday three amigos are back on dealer has diagnosed it needs a complete ABS modulator and is going to fit one in the new year as he's chocka block at the minute, is this all I've got to look forward too I can't drive the bloody thing round the block without it keeling over please tell me it'll get better as I'm beginning to think there's a reason why there's so many Land Rover knockers, all replys humorous or otherwise welcome. :)

Hello! And welcome!! Great intro there mate. Sounds like you've got a very good dealer where abouts are you? Td5s are pretty reliable it's normally the rot that gets them. It sounds like you've had/having all the main fail points replaced anyway so you should be ok

Hi Will thanks for the welcome,
I am based in Luton in Bedfordshire, my local independent is Woodside Land Rover, they're a great outfit and have been truly outstanding in sorting things out with the new motor, I'm lucky to have bought the vehicle from them as I could not see me getting service like that from other dealers, I guess I'm just having a bit of a bad streak then, I'm happy it's going wrong under warranty though :D the owner even came out on a Sunday morning picked the car up repaired it and brought it back again.

Hi Biggeeee,
Thanks for the welcome, holy crap if I saw that under my car I'd need therapy to get over it, that's the problem with us soft southern shandy drinking poofters, we think off roading is parking on the village green :D a friend keeps telling me to try the Devils pit in Barton-Le-Clay, but I may just build up slowly as my off road skills are non existant.

This is why we all love Land Rovers!

Welcome! I'm new too. I've owned my Disco for 2 weeks, and in the last 14 days it's been in the garage for 9 of them!
