Hi, I am a newbie that joined probably for the same reasons most of us join a forum...advice.
As with all the forums I have joined, I have remained a member to give advice and help where I can. I live in Dorset and currently own a P38 4.6 vogue 2000 RR. I have done little repairs on the car following videos on you tube which have been really helpful (heater matrix o rings)
I have now found myself a little lost with the latest problem with the Rangie. It started with a problem with the air compressor, my wife was driving and said she heard a rattling from the air compressor. She took it to the local garage where it decided to stop making the noise and the mechanics sent her on her way thinking she was daft. When she got home the noise returned so she decided to let all the air out of the suspension to see if she could raise it again and therefore see if the pump was working. The pump stopped making any noise and the suspension failed to raise. I can home from work, removed the air compressor and on inspection found the piston had snapped. Later that evening my wife the. Told me she had also tried to restart the car but it wouldn't turn over...thinking it may be a flat battery(something to do with the earlier problem) I put the battery on charge and later tried to start...no luck and it wouldn't turn over. I replaced the compressor the next day and tried to start the car (battery had been on charge all night) but all lights work, windows, locks and alarm with no fault codes yet the car won't turn over. I can hear the relay click when I turn the key and the fuel pump(buzzing) but nothing else. I have tried the EKA code and a reset but no change. Can anyone tell me if they think it could be the starter motor and is it normal for a starter to fail like this? It's never failed to start before ( other than a flat battery )
I am not good with electrics and worried it is something related to the compressor failure or do you think it is just coincidence? How/what do I need to check the starter to see if that is the problem.

It sounds to me as if you've lost sync between the engine and body electronics, a fairly frequent occurence

HOWEVER

now that you've introduced yourself get into the Range Rover section and ask your questions. There you will find the P38 gurus lounging in their leather armchairs sipping fine alcohol. (We don't really but we just like to keep the tratter drivers in their place.)
