Hello to you all.
I,ve just bought my first Landrover 90 :D and will be doing a ground up restoration. Its been stood for a couple of years due to a rotten bulkhead and an oil leak.
I,ve customised cars and restored motorbikes in the past but wanted a life-long project, so I guess it will never be finished  .
Both the kids and the wife are really pleased we know have a landy (kids call it landypandy...............that'll stop when its got a meaty rollcage:rolleyes: ) and I will be enlisting there help throughout the project (so long as it doesnt contravene child labour laws:eek: )
So that kinda sums up my intorduction. I,ve joined the forum to gather info and chat with other passionate landy owners. I have a head full of questions (I wont start on you right now) some of them are predictable and possibly stupid cos I'm a landy N00B.
I'm off to read all the old threads...........seeya in a month ;)

Just added pics for perusal. Is it possible that the mileage is correct??

Looking at the tree residue on the spare wheel id say the mileage is pretty close...:D :D :D ,
How long has it been standing?
Ya got a years work just getting rid of mother natures natural body protection....Reckon it will be easier just to match that colour up and spray it the same as the spare...:D :D
Oh and welcome...
D

Hi and welcome to the Loony Zone. I wouldn't bother welding that bulkhead (though you can get repair sections) probably easier to get another Bulkhead and replace the lot. Pressure wash it to get rid of the algae and do the chassis as well. It'll find all the rot for you at the same time

ere redhand you know about welding stuff - am i wasting me time trying to welding an exhaust with me mig ?

am making a bench so i can test engines in the garage and need an exhaust modifying to fit

arent they usually tigged ?

Whe the exhaust snapped on the disco I wrapped a piece of thin steel round it and didn't have any gas for the mig so I welded it without any and it held fine. and when the tailpipe snapped on the mondeo that was mig welded. For what you want mig will be fine. It's not like your making an exhaust to sell is it..

Hi and thanks.I've been underneath and stabbed every bit of chassis I could see. Solid. No serious rust, just a little surface rust. Still, I will be replacing the whole bulkhead and having the chassis media blasted (play news24 at it really loud;)) to find all the bad bits. I've no doubt I'll be quite nervous that day

Ta muchly. Pics, I have learned from experience and these landyzone forums, are invaluable. As are plastic bags and labels for parts. My memory sucks so bad that I'll probably forget where I put them in the pc :D but I'll do my best to keep em coming:)
