My series has power steering fitted ,RRC 3 bolt box connected to a 300 tdi pump

Box had weaped for a while but steering was fine ,then the steering went heavy and the pump would chatter when turning so i changed the pump which made no difference

I changed the box for a good used one at the weekend which stopped the leak but steering is still heavy !

When the front wheels are jacked up steering is light and when the steering bar is disconnected i can turn the wheels easily by hand and everything feels smooth

Any suggestions ?

Read a post once about hydraulic hoses delaminating or similar inside which caused a blockage in the hose?

if hoses al right could be broken vane in pump or all hose unions tight is power steering fluid in resovior yery frothry

how do wheels swivel with weight on them, was the replacement pump new

Fluid does get frothy quite quickly ,pump was not new it came from a spare engine i have

James how would i check how wheels turn with weight on ?

Got it sorted i found theres a 1/2" bolt on the top of the box to bleed it

Cracked the bolt off turned steering lock to lock ,bubbles came out and shes sorted

well done usualy they self blead but always exception to rule
