Depends why you want it. It appears clutches don't last that long on the TD4, so something longer lasting is attractive. You'd bust a gearbox, IRD,VCU before you'd get anywhere near needing a heavy duty clutch on the FL..
my current one has done **103,000 miles .. feels as good as the day after it were replaced ..It appears clutches don't last that long on the TD4

lol, spoken like someone who has never driven a manual one off roadYou'd bust a gearbox, IRD,VCU before you'd get anywhere near needing a heavy duty clutch on the FL..
Yearly basis? How so, what are you doing (or not doing)? For exactly that reason, I'd like to not have to repeat the expensive experience on a yearly basis moving forward.
Nope never!lol, spoken like someone who has never driven a manual one off road
Your loss and says more about you than anyone else.Nope never!
Can't imagine doing it either
My idea of offroad is pulling trailers across my land, not spending myself clean on massive tyres and lifts to only drive over some grassy lumps
More of a can't fit in the Freelander properly, I've owned one..Your loss and says more about you than anyone else.
A standard FL1 is more than capable on a lot of terrain. But lack of low means the clutch can take a pounding. Heavy trailers can make it slip more than you'd want to when manoeuvring.
LUK clutch has failed on me after 10,000 miles and a trip to Avalanche and Billing.Yearly basis? How so, what are you doing (or not doing)?
For a LUK (OE) clutch to last just 10k miles, here's an issue with either the way the vehicle is being used, or an issue with the release mechanism, allowing it to slip more than it should. With non-towing use, the TD4 clutch should last 120-150k miles.
The DMF can't cause the clutch to wear out prematurely.
Ah, so the clutch could be of questionable quality then.I never saw the LUK packaging and they failed to plug my HDC back in so my faith in the garage isn't amazing.
That's all I can think off, going to take it to a reliable mechanic that I've met since having the clutch changed and have him carry out a replacement, quite tempted by this https://clutch-specialists.co.uk/products/cg-motorsport-dual-friction-clutch-kit-400-0342Ah, so the clutch could be of questionable quality then.
