I'm going to have a go at doing mine this weekend. Not looking forward to it, but it's got to be done.

I've found a few walk throughs on this subject, but they all seem to be slightly different.

Anyone got any tips and/or suggestions of things to get before I start?
Anything else worth looking at while I'm in there apart from Cruise Control pipe? I need it working again by Monday so I'd hate to find out I've forgotten something once I'm halfway through.

done both my rangies , and a few others -make sure you use the correct screwdriver to undo the clamp on the pipes if you round it of you are in trouble , i replaced mine with a allen screw so you can use a ball socket allen key , and also make sure the pipes are in squarely before you tighten up the screw .
all the rest is a fiddle but can be done without removing the dash

Yi, I got the allen screw with the o rings.

It sounds like all the fiddly stuff is just to gain access to the screw. That right?

While its all apart, it mighht be worth replacing the bulbs in the HEVAC control panel and spray a bit of pfte lubricant into the blend doors.

Oh yeah re the retaining bolt, when you're tightening it back don't over do it either. A member on RR.net did and it snapped the housing. Result - dash out job to replace matrix.

Not sure what size the screw is - I got it in a 'kit' with the o rings on fleabag. I assume it's the right size.

Bit late to do the bulbs as I don't have any and probably can't get any, but I'm sure I'll enjoy doing it all again when they go!!!

Refit is the reverse of removal....

So what's at the end of the rainbow? Gold? No, a Rangey with new heater matrix o-rings.

great pics. Tried to get the screw out again this morning but it looks like the chop for the air vent that goes down so I can get to it.
Have we a how to do section on this forum as those pics are just what the doctor ordered.
Now wheres my duct tape to put that thing together ?

I found a drywall saw was just right for cutting the vent, but be warned - dont go to mad with it..

The screw is an M5. My other tip is to make sure everything is clean and the O rings are lubricated with a little vaseline and dont overtighten the screw on re-assembly.

The screw is M5 , about 30 mm long...need a 4mm A/F ball ended allen key
