Hi to you all.... I have a few Qs to ask the community. Having a heater problem!! The top two pipes that go through the bulkhead, one is hot, the other is cold which is the same pipe that leads down to the bottom hose even though the engine is showing half warm? Would this be an air lock or worse heater matrix issue? Just replaced all the hoses, water pump, radiator and fitted an electric fan...header tank doesn`t gurgle so assume no air locks present.... Just at a loss what to do next? Any ideas would be much appreciated.

On another note...My insurers have contacted me to pre warn of an upsurge in Discovery 2 thefts, has anyone heard about this? My machine is my work vehicle and have invested heavily into it and certainly do not want it going missing....Tempted to install a cut out switch or extra security over the LR standard kit, any thoughts?
 
Yes I have had that problem in the past to cure it I removed the pipe at the bulkhead that goes to the bottom of the heater , that’s your cold pipe, attach a 2ft length of garden hose and lift it up as high as you can put a funnel in it and fill the heater keeping an eye on the now open end of the hose you removed if necessary remove the hot side and hold it lower that the side you filling to make sure you have completely filled the heater, if no fluid comes out the matrix maybe block

If you have fluid coming out heat top hose , your hot one, reattach it and continue to fill up the system, then its a case of when you have flow out of the lower hose, remove the garden hose and reattach the lower hose as fast as you can, run the engine and see it the heater is now running hot, if not then it maybe blocked
 
Thefts of Discos are due to the increasing price of Defenders. Engines, gearboxes, transmission parts are all common, so expect to find yours stripped of all those parts, if you ever get it back....

They will always show a max of half temp, unless its just seconds from boiling over....
 
Hi all...Need some expert advice. Just replaced the clutch spring on my Discovery 2 V8 with a LOF spring, however, clutch peddle still stuck on the floor, so today I have just replaced the master cylinder, and peddle still stuck to the floor and taking ages to bleed? Any ideas before I go any further? Thanks.
 
I read that it's easier to bleed with a pipe from the n/s brake nipple, and force fluid up the clutch pipe, via the bleed nipple on the slave cylinder
 
At the risk of putting air in your brakes system, not a good idea, as it was my clutch pipe that wad leaking I replaced it with a flexi pipe from

then you can sit in the drivers seat and bleed your slave cylinder as shown in the photo below, bit of wood screwed across the piston stops you pumping the piston out, when your done dont forget to put the dust cover on

How would you get air into the brakes ? You reverse bleeding by pumping the fluid from the brake circuit, not into it....
 
in the hope you dont allow air to bypass the nipple threads on the two bleed nipples you need to have open to do the job, every time you lift your foot off the pedle, IMHO not a good practice
