My 2000 P38 heated seats don't work but unlike other members the lights on the switches don't work either. I have been messing on and off for a while. There does not appear to be any power to the plugs under the seats whichever position the switch is in. (without a warning light cannot be sure when on or off). All fuses are ok and if I remove them I get the warning message.

(By the way, do the heaters in the seats work without the engine running?)

Anyway today when driving along I tried the switch and lo and behold the warning light on the switch came on (first time in 3 years since I have had car). Tried the other seat switch and that light came on as well. After a few seconds, both lights went out. They were not lit long enough to tell if the heaters under seat worked.

Now I have nothing again. Is this a relay somewhere or what. Not he dreaded BECM please......

I am new to this forum and the all the problems frighten me a bit - but I have had a Disco (Petrol, couldn't take the mpg), a Shogun (no problems in 4 years) and a Cherokee (ugh!) but the Rangy is best - don't know why.

i would suggect getting the console out and checking the connections to that, sounds like a corroded connection on there.

you have to check continuity around the seat elements. they have probably broken which is an easy fix as here Heated Seat Repair Operations

the seats will not work unless the engine is running
