Hi guys, ive got a Td5 with front heated screen, 03 plate, last winter it worked fine but on the last two occasions i switched it on it only seems to work on half of the drivers side, passenger side totally dead, tried the usual fuses, all ok, removed both plugs under bonnet to left and right side of screen and all seems ok, does this mean a new screen or am i missing something??? any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,

Many thanks
Andy.

I've just joined Landyzone today and already someone has the same sort of issue as me! My '53 Disco Landmark heated screen does work, but only seems to heat in certain areas, leaving 5" "bands" on the drivers side which do eventually clear after about 5-7 mins. Is this usual or should all the screen de-mist/de-ice evenly?

Advice greatly appreciated!

Hi, to be certain that is not an electrical/wiring issue take a multimeter, switch on the heater button then check if u have voltage in both plugs.....if yes then u need a new screen, if u dont have voltage in the passenger side's plug it means that is an electrical/wiring problem and u have to follow the diagram to find it(there is a full scheme in RAVE)

Those thiny/sleazy heater elements are all in parallel and inserted into the screen, in time they use to burnout one by one.......no way to fix them, when there will be to much of them interrupted u need a new screen(provided that u need heated screen;))

:welcome2: to the Forum.
A stone chip can disable a segment of the element leaving the rest functioning.

Thank you for the replies. It is handy having the heated screen on those icy Northern mornings, but also when the windscreen is just misty before the engine gets warm to de-mist with heater. A new windscreen sounds expensive so I'll just live with the "banding"! Like I said it does all clear eventually. Cheers :5bcheers2:

Thanks guys for all your replies, i will check out the plugs as suggested but if its a new screen i think a tin of de icer will be the cheapest option for now lol.
