Ey up took head off the other day, there is a fair bit of carbon build up on the top of the heads, also beneath a couple of the valves it was a bit oily, is this normal or does it show that there could be wear on the piston rings.

Also included is a picture of a damaged cam roller follower, a couple of these were like this dont know why ? ordered some new ones anyway, also the pushrods were fine and straight.

cheers

might need to get some fresh injectors or yours done, cam followers can get damaged through taking water in cylinder ,wide valve gaps or if follower slide is sticking in worn guide you can feel guide wear with your finger once roller and slide removed bores dont look to bad ,they will have worst wear at the top about 12mm down on turbo side

James would it be worth putting some injector cleaner through the engine when i have got it running again, or is this stuff not very effective?

I know that new injectors are very expensive, what sort of cost is it to have them refurbished? i am not too worried about the wait because i have the engine out and the vehicle off the road.

Also is it the carbon deposit that acts as an abrasive on the pistons that will burn them out?

cheers.

I think the pump has been adjusted before i bought the vehicle, the engine also had a new head before i bought it.
