Hi there, a friend of mine has a s11a with a knackered cylinder head, he has no access to a computer so he asked me to ask the questions, the engine is a 2 1/4 petrol, but he doesn't know if it's the 4 or 5 bearing version, are the cylinder heads the same for both engines? and are there any second hand one's for reasonable money or should he go for the reconditioned item ( if they are available ? ) any advice please

To the best of my knowledge all heads are interchangeable, although not identical.
Being picky, 3 bearing or 5 bearing.
Reconditioned would normally include fitting hardened valve seats (check before parting with your money) which will allow the use of care free unleaded'

thanks for the replies, it was running on unleaded that damaged the head in the first place, he wrongly assumed that the head had already been converted

if it's a 2a and it's the orginal engine it'll be the 3 bearing
